Future readiness: OPC UA, AAS and the Digital Product Passport

Once the system is stable, I prepare it for Industry 4.0: OPC UA integration, Asset Administration Shell (AAS), and technical preparation for regulatory requirements such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

When is this service a good fit?

  • The existing .NET system runs stably and releases are sufficiently controlled.
  • There is a bounded use case for OPC UA, Asset Administration Shell, or technical DPP preparation.
  • The required data, participating systems, and functional responsibilities can be identified together.

Process

  1. Prerequisite: a stabilized system. As long as releases are risky, a new interface only moves the problem outward.
  2. Goals: we clarify which data the system needs to provide for customers, machines, and regulatory evidence.
  3. Interface: OPC UA integration or Asset Administration Shell (AAS), started on one bounded use case.
  4. Evidence: preparation for requirements such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP), as far as regulation is settled today.

What you provide

  • A stabilized, releasable system baseline.
  • Technical contacts, data sources, and existing interface documentation for the bounded use case.
  • Your company's functional and regulatory requirements. The legal assessment remains your responsibility.

Result

  • A working interface for a defined use case.
  • A documented data model that carries over to further machines and products.
  • A reliable statement of what is still technically missing for the Digital Product Passport.

Scope limits and exclusions

  • Systems that do not yet run stably. Stabilization comes first.
  • Full MES or ERP rollouts. I build the interfaces, not the third-party systems.
  • Legal advice on regulatory requirements. I prepare the technical side; the legal assessment stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

Can the work begin while releases are still risky?

No. The existing system is stabilized first so new interfaces do not conceal additional release risk.

Does this include a full MES or ERP rollout?

No. The service covers interfaces and data models in the existing .NET system, not implementation of third-party systems.

Does DPP preparation include legal advice?

No. I prepare the technical ability to provide evidence. Legal interpretation and binding requirements remain your responsibility.
